About the Author
Hazel Larcombe-Lilford is a storyteller whose work is rooted in the belief that imagination should be shared across generations. Her writing journey reflects a life lived across three continents, each leaving an indelible mark on the landscapes and lore of her fiction.
Early Inspirations
Hazel's passion for the fantastical began in the sun-drenched small towns of South Africa. Childhood memories of wonder tied to the natural world—simple rowing trips on lakes or banks of purple mist—form the foundation for the vibrant environments in her books like The Magical Dumligo. Writing for young readers lets her recapture that innocent time when everyday moments sparked new dimensions.
Global Journey
She spent twelve years in England's rich history and rolling countryside, layering classical folklore into her narratives. Today, she lives in Victoria, BC, Canada, drawing from its stunning coastal beauty to infuse serenity and spirit into her stories. These travels shape unique worlds, from South African veldt colors to English woods mysteries.
